Getting to Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Flying into Yampa Valley Regional Airport (Hayden, HDN)
Yampa Valley Regional Airport (HDN) is about 27 miles west of Steamboat Ski Resort. The drive takes about 40 minutes which is super convenient when traveling to Steamboat!
The air schedule into Steamboat is more robust in the wintertime for folks who are visiting ski Steamboat. Hayden has flights arriving from major cities around the country.
This includes Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Minneapolis, Newark, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Denver! (during the winter ski season) From Denver, there are approximately 7 daily flights, which is great just in case there are flight delays due to weather.
In the summer, the flight schedule only includes daily flights from Denver, but there are about 4 flights per day, which is great!
Driving from Denver
Driving from Denver to Steamboat Springs in the summertime is a scenic, beautiful experience. The drive is about 180 miles and will take you about 3 hours and 15 minutes if you drive straight through. It’s a good idea to account for a stop or two along with the way for bathroom breaks, lunch, and of course – to enjoy the scenery!
Driving to Steamboat Springs from Denver is easier during the spring, summer, and fall months and there is less risk of a snowstorm delaying your drive. Plus, for safety reasons, if you’re planning to visit Steamboat in the winter, you may want to consider flying directly into the Yampa Valley Regional Airport to avoid snowy roads.

Weather in Steamboat Springs, Colorado
The weather in Steamboat Springs, Colorado varies quite a bit depending on when you’re planning to visit!
In the summer months from early June through mid-September the average daily high temperature is 70F. The average temperature in Steamboat in the winter is 38F and the coldest month is January. These temperatures in the winter are perfect to create the dry, champagne powder that Steamboat is famous for!
If you’re planning on visiting Steamboat Springs during the spring or fall seasons, make sure to pack for both warm and chilly weather. And be sure to check the forecast before you travel. Both the spring and fall can have lovely warm days in the afternoon with abundant sunshine! In the evenings, it could be very chilly, even into the freezing temperatures.

The Steamboat Grand hotel is the only full-service luxury hotel located steps from the base of the ski area with high-end amenities including the Steamboat Grand Pool, hot tubs, and health club. Mostly, the rest of the (luxury) accommodations around the area are townhomes, condominiums, and private homes. (Sheraton Steamboat Villas listed below are the closest next choice for a full-service high-end hotel experience.) The Steamboat Grand is one of the best choices you can make when selecting a Steamboat Springs hotel!
The room category accommodations at The Steamboat Grand are Double Queen, Deluxe King, Studios, Condos, and Luxury Penthouses. Starting with the Studios, these rooms have a small kitchenette, perfect for making breakfast, lunch, or your morning coffee!
Dining offered at The Steamboat Grand is wonderful! The Cabin is a lovely rustic restaurant featuring a menu of great burgers, salads, sandwiches, and appetizers. For dinner, try the Miso Glazed Salmon or Grilled Ribeye for a delicious entree.
The Cabin serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The Poolside Bistro at the Steamboat Grand offers grilled entrees, signature cocktails, beer, and wine. Located outdoors on the second level of the hotel, the Poolside Bisto is a lovely spot for a quick salad or appetizer and cocktail in the afternoon.

Sheraton Steamboat Resort Villas
Sheraton Steamboat Resort Villas is located at the base of Steamboat Ski Resort next to the Christie Peak Express. This stellar location provides a ski-in ski-out experience in the winter season and easy access to hiking and biking trails in the summer. You really can’t ask for a better location!
All of the accommodations at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort Villas include a kitchen, washer/dryer, and a balcony or patio.
Many of the villas provide stunning mountain views from your room. Studios up to two-bedroom villas and condominiums are available to choose from when you book at Sheraton Steamboat Villas. This is one of my favorite properties in Steamboat, as the location just can’t be beat!

Homewood Suites by Hilton Steamboat Springs
Homewood Suites by Hilton is a great place to lay your head if you’re looking for a nice hotel that’s comfortable, affordable, and clean with a strong brand behind it! Homewood Suites in Steamboat is 2 miles from the Steamboat Ski Resort and about three miles from downtown Steamboat Springs. They’re one of the newest hotels in Steamboat!
The guestrooms at the Homewood Suites are very spacious and have either one king bed or two queens. A few of the wonderful amenities at the Homewood Suites include complimentary daily breakfast, free wifi and free parking, an indoor pool, and a fitness center. This makes the Homewood Suites high on the list of Steamboat Springs hotels that I recommend.
Gravity Haus Steamboat
New to Steamboat Springs, Gravity Haus brings a boutique hotel experience to a perfect location! A ski-in/ski-out property, Gravity Haus in Steamboat will provide you with access to the ski slopes (or hiking trails) right out the door. All of the guestrooms at Gravity Haus offer very comfortable guest rooms, air-conditioning in the summer, a fridge, and wifi!
Gravity Haus Steamboat also has a heated outdoor pool and hot tub and a vibrant Eatery + Bar. Stop into the Eatery + Bar for breakfast before your day of exploration or visit for an apres ski (or hike) cocktail!

Holiday Inn Steamboat Springs
Another great hotel in Steamboat Springs for comfort, friendliness, and value is the Holiday Inn Steamboat Springs. Lovely amenities await guests such as an indoor pool and hot tub, an outdoor hot tub and summer seasonal pool, and a fitness facility.
The Holiday Inn Steamboat Springs is located on US Highway 40, just 1.5 miles away from Steamboat Ski Resort. There is a shuttle to the ski area in the wintertime for convenience. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Rex’s American Grill & Bar, located inside the Holiday Inn Steamboat Springs.
Rabbit Ears Motel
The Rabbit Ears Motel is a classic and iconic motel in downtown Steamboat Springs. You’ll know you’ve arrived when you see their famous, neon Rabbit Ears Motel sign! Guests will be welcomed by a clean, comfortable guest room with either a king bed or two queen beds.
Rabbit Ears Motel has recently renovated rooms, carpet, and drapery. Also, guests will enjoy oak bathroom doors in every room, and nice Speakman hospitality shower heads. Most rooms have balconies that provide nice views of the Yampa River and Howelsen Hill.
Just walk out the door and your steps away from downtown Steamboat’s shopping, dining, art galleries, and more! Conveniently, the free bus in Steamboat has a stop right outside of the Rabbit Ears Motel so you can head up to Steamboat Ski Area easily. When you’re researching places to stay in Steamboat Springs, Rabbit Ears is always a great choice!
Condominiums and Residences in Steamboat
One Steamboat Place
One Steamboat Place is located directly at the base of Steamboat Ski Resort in the Mountain Plaza and is a prime location. Walk out of your luxury accommodations and you’re conveniently close to the gondola, lift, shops, ski and bike rental shops, and a few restaurants. One Steamboat Place is a ski-in ski-out location.
This beautiful Steamboat property has a pool and hot tubs, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a family game room! The residences are tastefully designed with luxury appliances, an outdoor grill, and large living areas with plenty of room to gather. One Steamboat Place is definitely one of the best places to stay in Steamboat Springs.

Chateau Chamonix
Chateau Chamonix is a condominium property conveniently located directly on the slopes at Steamboat Ski Resort! It’s steps away from Steamboat’s Snowsports School and the Steamboat Gondola making it a ski-in ski-out property in Steamboat. In the summer, guests can walk directly out the door onto hiking trails to explore the mountain.
Chateau Chamonix offers spacious vacation rentals which are 2, 3, or 4 bedrooms with beautifully designed furnishings, fully equipped kitchens, washers and dryers, and gas fireplaces. On the property, they also have a lovely indoor/outdoor heated pool, outdoor hot tubs, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a sauna.
Bronze Tree
Bronze Tree is a lovely moderate condominium property just steps from away Steamboat Ski area. They’re a mid-level priced property offering 2 and 3-bedroom accommodations with great views of the mountain and valley! There’s a ski run that comes directly down to Bronze Tree, so the property is considered “ski-in”.
In the morning, it’s a short walk from the ground level of Bronze Tree directly to the slopes. If you’re visiting in the summertime, you’ll love being so close to the hiking and biking trails on Steamboat mountain.
Every condo guest will enjoy a gas fireplace and full kitchens that are stocked with dishes, glassware, silverware, dish soap, sponges, and all the rest of the necessary kitchen items!
Amenities at Bronze Tree in Steamboat include indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a sauna, a sundeck, and a fitness center. For winter, ski lockers are available at the property and an underground parking garage. Guests will also have access to winter-season shuttle service to the grocery store and historic downtown Steamboat Springs!

Storm Meadows Resort at Steamboat is in a great location up-slope from the base area of Steamboat Ski Area. (above the Right-O-Way trail to the immediate north of Steamboat Ski area) Here you’ll find a collection of condominium properties to choose from.
Many of the Storm Meadows Resort properties have access to ski slopes and others are just a short walk or a shuttle to the base area of Steamboat Ski Resort. Storm Meadows offers studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom condominiums.
Each of these properties is a little bit different and offers different amenities to their guests. Most have access to a swimming pool, community hot tub, and community sauna. Full kitchens are available and stocked with kitchen amenities such as dishes, glassware, silverware, paper towels, and everything you’ll need in the kitchen! Bath amenities will also be found in these accommodations.
During the summer months, Tennis courts are available to guests at most of the Storm Meadows Resort properties. In winter complimentary shuttle service is available to downtown Steamboat, the Steamboat gondola, or the grocery store.

Crosstimbers is a gorgeous luxury townhome village just 200 yards from the base of Steamboat Ski Resort. Beautifully designed two, three and four-bedroom residences are available to reserve. Every property has a gas log stone fireplace and vaulted great room and a gourmet kitchen.
If you’re looking for luxury and lots of space to spread out, Crosstimbers is an excellent choice for lodging in Steamboat for you!
The property also has an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, and sauna. And, a tennis court for your summer visit.
